Unmatched Actions. Unforgettable Atal Ji.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji was not a politician… he was a leader, a true statesman, a man of masses, a man of words, a man with Sarv Dharm Sambhav approach and a man who built the platform for India to grow and progress.

How do you pay tribute to a man whose words and actions have always inspired you and will continue to do so in years to come!

Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji was not a politician… he was a leader, a true statesman, a man of masses, a man of words, a man with Sarv Dharm Sambhav approach and a man who built the platform for India to grow and progress. it was only after his prime ministerial term that India took the expressway to growth.

Atal5

A sensitive person with a poetic heart; Atal Ji was a gem whose achievements cannot be summed up in few words. Yet, a humble attempt from me –

  1. Nuclear Power for India – Want to see how Vajpayee Ji empowered India with nuclear bomb? Watch Parmanu. It was under his term in 1998 that India conducted 5 nuclear tests in one week at Pokhran.

Atal2

2. Victory in Kargil War – The way India defeated Pakistan in Kargil War and foiled Pakistan sponsored terrorists attempt to infiltrate reflected the vision and decisive leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji.

3. Social & Economic Reforms – Atal Ji was the first non-Congress PM to complete his full term. He was also the first PM to focus so strongly on social and economic reforms, rural development and bring forth a host of welfare and progressive measures. Schemes like Pradhanmantri Gramin Sadak Yojna were his gift to India.

4. Diplomatic Success – Atal Ji showed grace and immense pragmatism by starting Delhi Lahore Bus Yatra. He also ensured stronger trade and bilateral relations with the United States. In fact, Bill Clinton became the first American President to visit India after 1978 and this happened during Vajpayee Ji term in the year 2000.

Atal3

5. First to speak in Hindi in the United Nations – As India’s Foreign Minister in the Janata Party govt, Atal Ji had given a rapturous speech at the UN General Assembly in Hindi in 1977. That was the first time anyone had given a speech in Hindi at the global forum.

Atal1

People like Atal Bihari Vajpayee leave a rich legacy of their thoughts, words and actions. He was one of the biggest source of inspirations for me.

We are blessed to be born in his era when he set an example of how a true leader of masses should conduct himself.

My open letter to Gopal Singh Chawla

I warn Pakistani Sikh leader Gopal Singh Chawla to stop spreading lies and his hateful propaganda. In last few days, we have been noticing him acting on the directions of terrorist Hafeez Sayeed and spreading lies on banning  uttering of words ‘Raj Kareg Khalsa’ in India only to save face of Pakistan which stopped Indian Envoy from visiting Gurudwara Sri Panja Sahib in Rawalpindi.

I am ashamed to call you a Guru ka Sikh for you do nothing but spread hatred and violence. You clear agenda is to incite the citizens of India particularly the Sikhs and you are doing so to please Hafeez Sayeed, a most-wanted terrorist!

Had you followed the teachings of Guru Sahibs, you would have never sided with Pakistan government’s decision to stop Indian envoy to pay obeisance at Gurudwara Sri Panja Sahib and now all the false information being spread by youis just a cover up to hide that folly!

I take strong offence to your propaganda against Indian Supreme Court. “Raj Karega Khalsa” is not banned in India and would never be. India is a democratic secular country which has given utmost respect to Sikhs. I wish you had heard PM Narendra Modi Ji on June 24th, 2018 Mann Ki Baat edition where he talked about Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teaching and exhorted people to join in 550th celebration of Parkash Utsav of Guru Sahib.

Your only motive behind this slanderous campaign, lies, baseless stories is to misguide the Sikh community so that Sikhs should wage a war against India and you may show this as an achievement to your ISIS bosses.

I challenge you to show me a court order copy which says that saying Raj Karega Khalsa is banned in India.

If you show such a copy – I would quit politics the very next day!

I reiterate that ‘Raj Karega Khalsa’ is very much part of Gurbani and daily Ardas done by the Sikhs and no court has ever banned and no one can ban such slogan which is inseparable part of Sikh way of life.

2

I request my Sikh brethren to ignore this crazy evil man Gopal Chawla who has now become the mouthpiece of Hafeez Saeed and their only agenda is to work for disintegration of  the country and harming the Sikh community maximum. Sikhs were always loyal to India, have already led from the front against the adversaries of the country and will continue to serve the nation… Mr Gopal Chawla, you may note this in your diary!

5 things every Indian must know about Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia

Do you know about this champion warrior under whose leadership, Dal Khalsa inflicted humiliating defeats on Nadir Shah, Mir Mannu, Adena Beg, Zakria Khan, Salabat Khan and Jahan Khan.?

May 3rd is the third birth centenary of Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, Sultan-ul-Quom and a fearless Sikh Jarnail who scripted Delhi Fateh by defeating Mughal rule Shah Alam II

Let me tell you 5 incredible things about this warrior which will make your chest swell with pride –

  1. Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and his misl Dal Khalsa looted the booty of Ahmad Shah Abdali, the cruel Afghan invader. He took revenge from Sikhs by carrying out a full-scale massacre – Vadda Ghallughara in which nearly 25,000 to 30,000 Sikhs were killed. Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwalia sustained 22 wounds on his chest in this battle!

3

2. He was the one who built the Gurdwara of Fatehgarh Sahib after defeating cruel Zalim Khan, the Nawab of Sirhind who had bricked alive the Chote Sahibzaade owing to his enmity with Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.

3. Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Ji was a champion warrior. Under his leadership, Dal Khalsa inflicted humiliating defeats on Nadir Shah, Mir Mannu, Adena Beg, Zakria Khan, Salabat Khan and Jahan Khan.

5

4. The collective efforts of Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, Baba Baghel Singh and Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Ji resulted in Sikhs conquerring the Red Fort and hoisting the kesri Nishan Sahib. It is said that Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwali dethroned the Mughal Takht-o-Taus and took it to Sri Darbar Sahib as a sign of surrender of Mughal arrogance.

4
Despite making supreme sacrifices for over 40 years, Jassa Singh Ahluwalia did not claim any privileged status for himself

5. And last, but the most important, he is the one who saved 2200 Indian girls and women enslaved by Ahmed Shah Abdali by attacking at midnight 12. This battle story was codenamed “12 Baj Gaye” which has been turned into a joke on SIkhs by some insensitive people.

I request you all to share this article and tell more and more people about the glorious life and contribution of Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Ji.

Let us do our part even if our history books have failed to tell all this!

Bhagat Singh, Rajguru & Sukhdev – still not awarded ‘Martyr’ status

We have seen true patriots over centuries past. We have seen soldiers die for their love of this great country. There have been martyrs and there have been heroes. And then there were Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev…

We have seen true patriots over centuries past. We have seen soldiers die for their love of this great country. There have been martyrs and there have been heroes. And then there were Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev…

What was it or rather what is it about them that makes them our undisputed role models? We have been reading about many brave hearts across our history who willingly and with a wide smile on their faces looked death in the eye and numerous of them accepted it as their fate just for their love of India. Still… the way Bhagat Singh embraced death for the love of nation… is something that gives me goosebumps.

111.jpg

Born on 28th September 1907, Bhagat Singh came to be known as a prominent freedom fighter. People don’t know that even his father, Kishan Singh was a true patriot and he was in jail at the time of Bhagat’s Singh’s birth. His uncle, Sardar Ajit Singh too was a great Indian freedom fighter. He established the Indian Patriot’s Association. It will only be fair to say that the love for their nation flowed in their very veins and patriotism was in their blood.

Bhagat Singh was the voice of the young India then and he had very clear notions and thoughts about the current situation of the country.

While opposing Simon’s Commission, Lala Lajpat Rai with Pandit Madan Mohan had started a silent protest march in Lahore. It was during this protest march that Superintendent of Police James Scott hit Lala Lajpat Rai repeatedly with lathi that caused his death. Bhagat Singh was an eye witness to this act and decided to kill Scott as revenge. But dues to some identity misunderstanding, he killed a junior officer.

On April 8, 1929, Bhagat Singh, along with freedom fighter Batukeshwar Dutt, hurled two bombs inside the Central Legislative Assembly in New Delhi to protest against an unfavourable Bill. He willingly got arrested while shouting the slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabad ‘.

We know him as “Shaheed Bhagat Singh” because he was one of the youngest to have sacrificed his life for the freedom of our country. He was a prominent leader of the “Hindustan Social republican Association” and was hanged till death by the British on 23rd March, 1931. But sadly, Indian government has not yet accorded Bhagat SIngh or Rajguru or Sukhdev the status of martyrs!

There can never be any match or words to describe the role of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru in India’s freedom struggle. Their courage, intellect, dedication, commitment, sincerity, selflessness, patriotism, non-communal stance, and love for the downtrodden makes them an inspiration for generations to come. I request PM Narendra Modi Ji to accord them the status of martyrs. That would be the best tribute to their selfless sacrifices. #JaiHind

Should a habitual liar continue to be CM?

Kejriwal is the only political leader of the country who resorts to spreading all sort of lies not only about his opponents  but also promises moon to the people during the election time and forgets each and everything once election is over.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal  has created a record of sort after he admitted that he lied to the people of Punjab on the eve of Punjab assembly polls. He has become the only sitting Chief Minister of any state of the country to admit about his lies in an affidavit before the court!

WhatsApp Image 2018-03-17 at 5.45.38 PM

In fact, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is on an apology spree. He has apologized to Union Minister Sh. Nitin Gadkari Ji and to Kapil Sibal as well for using derogatory language. All these apologies hint at one thing – Kejriwal has lied for political gains; he lied to his workers and he lied to the common man.

gad

His admission has already reaffirmed his modus operandi which he used to lure the innocent people of Delhi for usurping power in the National Capital. A CM who keeps apologizing and biting dust for his foul words… has lost all moral rights to be hold a position of respect. Sadly, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has not just lost the respect but also trust for his words. How will anyone ever trust his promises or claims he makes against other people?

WhatsApp Image 2018-03-17 at 8.44.26 PM

I demand his resignation for accepting on oath in the court that he had lied to the people prior to the Punjab Assembly polls and tendering apology to the Shiromani Akali Dal leader Mr.Bikram Singh Majithia. He should also apologize to the people of Delhi for telling lies on the eve of  Delhi assembly polls and  for his efforts to mislead the people of the national capital.

Kejriwal is the only political leader of the country who resorts to spreading all sort of lies not only about his opponents  but also promises moon to the people during the election time and forgets each and everything once election is over. He hadclaimed before the Delhi assembly polls that he has full evidence on the alleged corruption of the Shiela Dikshit, about the scams of the power companies in Delhi and about the tanker scam of the Delhi Jal Board and had promised strong action based on his so called ‘evidence’.  No action was taken once he got power in the National Capital. In fact, no action has been taken against any political leader against whom he had leveled allegations. Delhi Jal Board is extending the contracts to same contractors for supplying water and even not taking the transparent route of tendering.

WhatsApp Image 2018-03-17 at 6.02.36 PM

Same is the case with power companies whom now Mr. Kejirwal is paying Rs. 2000 crore per annum. I am launching a full fledged campaign against Mr. Keriwal for accepting his lies on oath and will use hoarding, media and all sorts of communication tools to tell the people that Mr. Kejriwal is the only Chief Minister of the independent India which has on oath accepted that he is a liar and apologized for his lies he made on the eve of Punjab Assembly polls.

Hola Mohalla – Shining Swords reflect the brilliance of Sikhism

Let me tell you about Hola Mohalla – a festival of Courage, Hope, And Faith played amid Colours in Punjab.

Hola Mohalla is Punjab’s biggest annual fair which is celebrated every year at Anandpur Sahib immediately after Holi. A festival which epitomizes the spirit and valour of Punjab, Hola Mohalla has earned the stature of a National Festival as well in the year 1996. The festival gives pilgrims and visitors a chance to bask in the glory of Punjabi spirit, Sikh religion and Punjabi courage. It is one of those unforgettable Punjabi festivals which reflect the dedication & heroism of Punjabi community and Punjabi way of life.

History – Hola Mohalla gets celebrated in Anandpur Sahib on the day following the festival of Holi. The practice of Hola Mohalla was started by Sh Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh guru. The festival is celebrated for three consecutive days; each day the participants can witness rare display of physical strength by Sikh warriors. It has been beleievd that Guru Gobind Singh rechristened the Holi festival as Hola Mohalla and used the festive occasion to indulge his forces in martial arts and the art of warfare. In those days, Guru Sahib made his Sikh warriors, Nihangs, to form two groups and engage in mock battle which was like a practice of war for them.

What all make Hola Mohalla so very special –

  • Shining swords and long spears in the hands of warrior Sikhs.
  • Conical turbans and twirled-up moustaches of Nihangs
  • Daredevil acts by Guru di laadli Fauj; acts like bareback horse-riding, standing erect on two speeding horses, Gatka (mock encounters), tent pegging etc
  • 1
  • Music and Poetry competitions
  • Kirtans and Langars
  • The last day procession which is led by Panj Pyaras. This processions starts from Takht Keshgarh Sahib, one of the five Sikh religious seats, and passes through various important gurdwaras like Qila Anandgarh, Lohgarh Sahib, Mata Jitoji and terminates at the Takht

Rabindranath Tagore paid tribute to Sikh heroism through his poems

Not many people know that Nobel laureate and revered poet Rabindranath Tagore Ji was inspired by Sikhism and the valour of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji so much that he wrote three beautiful poems titled ”Gobind Guru”, ”Veer Guru” and ”The Last Lesson” on Guru Sahib.
He has also written a composition titled ”Bandi Veer” about Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and an essay on Guru Nanak”s Sacha Sauda at the age of 21 years for a Bengali children”s magazine called ”Balak”. Isn’t it amazing – Banda Bahadur never set foot in Bengal, but Tagore’s work enshrined his name in Bengali literature.

3

I read in a book that Rabindranath Tagore had studied the Sikh Religion deeply and was very impressed by the splendid philosophy of Sikhism and the Sikh way of life. The fact that he returned his Knighthood back to Britishers hen the ‘Jallianwala Bagh Massacre’ took place shows how much respect he had for Sikhs and how deeply he was pained at the way Sikhs were treated.

I feel that Tagore must have bonded with Sikhism from his childhood days when he visited Amritsar with his father. Marinating in the peaceful ambiance of Sri Harmandir Sahib must have cemented his bond with the Sikh legacy. One can even see the impact of Gurbani in Tagore’s own poetry like –

“Jodi e amaro hridaya –

duaro bandha rahe go

Kabhu dwar bhenge

Tumi asho, more prané,

Phiria jao na, Prabhu!”

I want to tell people that the  inspirational poem on Banda Singh Bahadur written by Rabindranath Tagore is taught in Bengali schools. Ironically, it has never been translated into Hindi or English or even Punjabi and is not a part of school curriculum in North India!

As I get ready to visit West Bengal, I pay tribute to the great poet and social reformer of India. His legendary work and beautiful compositions are timeless treasures of our nation.
